I am thinking of buying some avid shorty 6's, but currently have v brakes on v brake mounts. Would the cantilevers fit?

Shouldn't be a problem. You'll need new levers as well though...Old hockey players never die - they just smell that way...0

Vbrake and cantilever brakes mount to the exact same fittings, all v brakes are in esscence are cantilever brakes with longer arms, canti's are what every bike had before vbrakes came along anyways lol"Don't ask the reasons why cos there arent any, don't follow convention, never say no, just believe in what you see and let the good times roll!"0

U brakes were great compared to the rod activated brakes...."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

was testing a bike here that we had assembled from new.
Two brake levers AND back pedal brake! Fing dangerous."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Rod brakes  oldies
My dad rode to school on a Hurcules Jeep with rod brakes, and says they were great brakes, mind you he rides old road bikes with shockingly terrible brakes..Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10
