Guten Tag,

As TTs can be a bit dull ( :shock: ) I thought I'd start this thread. Some of the riders now have established nicknames, others don't also, it might help newcomers to know who the hell we're talking about.

So, here's a starting list. Please add alternatives you've heard or made up. Please don't just be stupid, let's have some smart ones. Ideally, they should be humerous and accurate in some way. For example:

1. Twiggins = Bradley Wiggins

2. Bingo = Mark Cavendish

3. Cuddles = Cadel Evans

4. Frank or Andy Schleck = I'm proposing the Schleck Insects

Over to yous guys...

    Have heard O'Grady called Freckle.

    Of leopards, sprinter Quaranta used to be called the Leopard. Haven't heard of him for a couple of years.

    Kloeden = Hilde.

    He was given the nickname in his T-Mobile days (don’t know why), and apparently liked it then (don’t know about now).

    It’s short for Tante Hilde (Auntie Hilda), who is the nebulous or non-existent family member you might refer to sometimes, e.g. when you say “I followed Tante Hilde’s recipe when I made the potato salad” you actually mean, you made it up as you went along!

  • Quaranta was the Cheetah I think. He was scorching fast on his day and I remember him winning a stage in German race from absolutely miles back, one of the most impressive sprints I've ever seen. He was still racing last year and had a small win or two, but looks like he's given up now.

    I'm Spartacus!

    DZ Nuts - Dave Zabriskie. Wiggins called him that on his twitter. I suspect DZ is pronounced 'deez'. Deez nutz is a big deal in the US http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... =deez+nutz

    And there's this of course: http://www.dz-nuts.com/catalog/?p=press&v=lance
