Seen this?: http://www.bikeforall.net/news.php?articleshow=689

Can't decide if it's a good or bad thing, but I'll still be hoping to enter the main event again next year...

Brilliant idea. Similar to what they do at the Alpe D'Huez.

    Excellent idea.

I may give it a crack in September when I have some time off and then again next March/April to see how I've faired over the winter. If you're going to give yourself a yardstick to measure your form it may as well be a big one!!

    How will the timing work?

Who is going to man the feed stations 365 24/7?

What exactly does it get you, over just downloading the route off the FWC website and riding round it yourself ?

    - electronic timing, your name on a website and a certificate, it seems.

Doubtless there'll be a fee for the timing, so couldn't you just simply time yourself with a watch ?

indeed while at some point i'd love to ride some of those hills, I'd probably not bother with the route nor times unless i was in the sportive proper.
