Can you recommend me a "jump" bike?

I'm looking at getting a jump bike to try and start doing a few tricks and generally start biking to work/university.
Now, all the bikes i've been looking at I've been getting mixed reviews, and mainly ones that say "upgrade this, this this and its great!". I'm wondering whether anyone could possibly recommend me a bike that doesn't need upgrading? One that I could buy and ride and it wouldn't really need new bits and bobs?
Thanks

Good for jumping, 4X and short trails. Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
You can get the 24Seven Substance, available in geared or Single Speed flavours for £650 for the geared or £550 for the SS.
Designed for 4X, DJ and slopestyle.

You could use the money you save to buy a Full face helmet and some spare parts when you stack it (which you will if you are going to do some DJ).
Or you could save up another £400 and go for my personal favourite Hardcore Hardtail, The Deviant Twin <drools>

Dosent seem to be much point in spending the thick end of a grand on a comp ready DJ bike if all you will be doing is a few tricks and riding it to uni. Unless you are planning on moving up to other things.0 -
I still think that this is the best value DJ bike you can get for your money. No upgrades needed.
Giant STP 1 2009
And you have plenty of money for protection and that stuff.0 -
Hi everyone, thanks so much for the replies!
I would love to eventually move up a gear into doing things a little more properly and harder things but obviously I need to research how I'd get there yet. I'm checking through all the bike links now and will reply with which I'm getting0 -
Purely on looks (and thats all I have to go on so far..) I would say the Giant STP1 looks the nicest.
So all these bikes would do fine for stunt riding too? Like around urban areas jumps etc?0 -
