Just saw the reminence of quite a biggie...

Little car (peugeut 106?) on side of road with windscreen completely smashed in, next to a nice red pinnacle, split in 2, rider was in ambulance and police questioning lady driver...

have to say was shaken up by it hope the rider is OK....!

I use Lots Road when going to Richmond Park. There is often double-parked traffic and removals vans dropping off/collecting from the antiques stores and auction houses. Oh, and of course the myriad of Chelsea tractors. Unnerving.

Lots Road is one of those places where really, no-one (car or bike) should really be going fast enough to have a bad accident.

I nearly got taken out on Lots Road once, a lady was waving bye to some people that got out off her car and just floored it at me while still looking sideways as I was going past.

Man I though I was dead but somehow she managed to stop after I screamed my head off.

    Hope the rider is OK.

Yeah I've almost been in accidents with people looking one way whilst beginning to drive in another. The worst is when you get people pulling right out of a side road, they look, see a cyclist, think oh, must be travelling at 2mph or something, I've got ages to pull out, then start to focus their attention on what's coming in the lane they want to join and forget to check the approaching cyclist again and suddenly floor it when they see a gap in the furtherst lane. I try to make sure I make eye contact with drivers like this and if they appear to be gazing in the wrong direction as I approach I slow right down. Same with peds who start to cross the road, taking that first step before actually looking to see what's coming

I used to cut out a bit of the Embankment by using Lots road, decided it wasn't very safe. I reckon it's safer/faster to stick to Embankment. Hope the rider is ok.

I also quite used to enjoy cycling past my road:

I was working with the paramedic who was 1st on scene last night, and he told me that the cyclist walked away without a scratch. Miracles do happen!
