I noticed Spilak got -25pts for the sprint competition - is this because he was outside the time limit?

Seems he got them on Stage 13 when he came in alone, 23 minutes behind the bunch. Could it be a penalty for receiving a draft from a team car or something.

If he was outside the time limit he'd normally be removed from the race unless there were extenuating circumstances.

Anyone know why he was so far behind the bunch? No mention in the CN stage report.

He was dropped on the climb and found lots of spectator traffic on the roads on the decent and so lost even more time. He was outside the time limit, but because of the traffic on the decent, allowed to stay in the race.

Ah, thanks for the link - it's safe to say Spilak will not be going for intermediate sprint points

He was the Most Aggressive Rider two days later on the Verbier stage.
I think that was pretty much the highlight of Lampre's Tour so far. :)
