XT connection

Hi,

Will an XT chainset fit a Hope external BB without any issues are do I need a Shimano BB?

Merlin appear to be the best deal on the XT @ £119.95.

Replacing the chainset, BB and chain.

Although I love the FaceFace Evolve XC, I'm thinking of the XT to save a little weight. At the moment, I'm thinking of a Sram chain and maybe another XT cassette or maybe PG970 at £35.

Any ideas on bargain kit for less than £180 for heavy XC?

    Yes, the BB will fit. I'd go for an SLX chainset though - barely heavier than XT, supposedly stronger and a bit stiffer and a lot cheaper.

    but the HTII chainset comes with the bearings anyway.
