After six weeks off work after being ploughed into from behind on my commute to work im still stuggling with the injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver who claims he didnt see me as the sun was in his eyes!!!! didnt stop at first and the police say he hit me at a speed betwween 45-50MPH, gets a slap on the wrist, i on the other had have sustained severe muscle damage and bruising to my lower back and buttocks where i took his wing mirror off with my flying buttocks, landing on my coccyx and dislocating that, lying in the road/kerb side i then had my feet ran over by a second car while waiting for the ambulance by a second iddiot driver!
im slowly on the mend and belive it could of been so much worse in some ways, but cant wait to get back on the saddle of the new bike, but im asking fellow commuters if they can recommend a comfy saddle for my sore coccyx area.
Any help would be welcomed.
cheers!

What an horrific story, sounds like you were very lucky, bizarre as it sounds. So galling to think the driver(s) were not prosecuted, you should take both of them to court. Have you got injury solicitors involved?

All the best for a full recovery.

PS I love my charge spoon saddle, IMO saddle comfort is very individual so best to try some if possible.

The driver of the second car would also be at fault, I can't see how running over your feet while you're waiting for an ambulance could be seen as less than careless, given that he would have to be close to hitting you.

Have you got a lawyer on your case? As for the second vehicle, the Motor Insurers Bureau compensate victims of untraced or uninsured drivers (I got £4000 from them several years ago), google them.

got lawyer who was recomended by friend. going through getting quotes ect. but concentrating on physio and getting better first, got pics of injuries so thats a bonus.just hard not being out there, you know what i mean im sure.
  • just a word of warning - it took me just over a year to get the money out of the insurance company when I was knocked off by a driver. He was prosecuted as he failed the police eye test, but the insurer doubted my £2,600 claim for my bike.

Got it finally last week after much chasing. I got nowhere until I got threatening and formally complained. Eventually, when I asked what they wanted me to do next, they suggested a loss adjuster. The loss adjuster called the next day. Saw me and my broken bike 2 days later and 2 days after that I got the cheque. Hooray.

Now just got to keep fighting for the injury and lost earnings claim

  • Good luck with the recovery. I'm only just back on the bike myself after being run into (literally) by a pedestrian which tore my shoulder apart. While the recovery has been slow and painful I missed not being on the bike more.

Saddened but not surprised that no action has been taken against the driver. If he'd run into a building and caused damage I bet he'd be in court...

What about the initially not stopping...

Isn't that a pretty serious offense?

I thought he would of been done for leaving the scene of the accident, and driving without due care and attention but he returned with in ten mins, the frightening thing is he is 22 years old and just got his hgv licence driving for a well known haulage firm.
chingford skin head i hope you recover soon, my physio has now phoned up and cancelled all physio appointments due to the swine flu scare monggering!
cant belive it.... one step forward two back as they say.
invested in a coccyx cushion, now thinking of some sort of cushion/padding in my cycling shorts to protect coccyx. thats how lost i am without my bike, bored stupid

TCS, great to hear you're riding again! How does it feel?

Does anyone else read this thread title and think it's someone shouting sarcastically?
