why didnt contador ride tdf last year?

as title says answer please?, im loving watching the tour again after about ten tofifteen year break god im old

    Because Alexandre Vinokourov and Andrei Kashechkin both failed dope tests in the 2007 Tour, Astana wasn't invited to the 2008 Tour.

    Although the team was under new management in 2008, so you could argue it was actually a different team.

    No problem.

    It probably did Contador a favour actually, because it forced him to ride the Giro and the Vuelta instead - races that probably wouldn't have been on his calendar - thus allowing him to become an all-time great instead of just a TdF great.
