    He said something like 'there are 60 million potential GC contenders in Britain if everybody got on their bike instead of playing football'...

    Just about this country would probably have more GC contenders if everyone never played football

    ....but then didn't Robert Green say ages ago that football - and the thorny problem of picking England goalies in particular - would be in a better state if teenagers weren't a bunch of couch potatoes playing on XBoxes etc. all day? So ultimately maybe the blame lies with games consoles?
