Donating old bike to charity?

When I get a new bike (once I've finally decided if I want a road, MTB or hybrid 
), I will get rid of my old MTB. It's about 10 years old, made of steel and weighs as much as the Moon (ok, maybe not quite that much, it's about 35lbs I think). Since I don't have space for two bikes, I was thinking about putting it on Freecycle, but I was wondering if there are any schemes that send bikes to developing parts of the world where a bike might be a even more benefit to someone.
