Best Waterproof Trousers (Not Overtrousers)

Like many i have been commuting in the rain these past few days and I have been thinking of purchasing some waterproof trousers.
I'm not keen on getting overtrousers and was looking for some trousers that you can just pull on and wear even if it's not raining. I would be looking to use these into autumn and early winter and then revert to the overtrousers after that with some warm tights underneath.
Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly received.

You're much better off getting wet legs this time of year, you'll just be too hot in trousers and be wet with sweat instead. Decent shorts will dry quickly enough. For winter I wear eVent overtrousers over bib shorts, they are so good!

DHB do some cheaper ones that look good too.0 -
They're pretty pricey. Shame I only ride 2 miles, 'cause I can't really justify nice expensive pants for such a short spin. Hmmm, they are tempting though...0

I've got a pair of Endura Singletracks that I used all through winter, with only leggings underneath: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=19051
They've been good for the commute and pretty hardy, but beware they're quite tight on the thigh area for me (maybe I picked the wrong size). They also dry very quickly for the commute home.
I've got the Singletrack shorts, and they're fantastic. For Autumn I started with leggings and the shorts over the top.Giant Escape R1
