Trek FX mudguards advice.

Hi all,
I own a trek 7.2 fx for riding to work and Im wanting to fit a new set of mudguards.Im using a set of Bontrager invert tyres 700x35mm.
Would a set of 35mm wide 700c guards do it, or should I maybe go for a set of 45mm wide?
I dont want to come up short and still get wet.
