i bought some new tyres today and put them on the bike but now i need new tubes cos i noticed mine had more holes than swiss (after they went flat an hour and a half later. i guess the old tyres were holding the patches on)cheese so now i gotta wrestle the tyres off again in the morning and buy new tubes. grrrr

You should have some spare, in the wardrobe, next to 'Daisy'

probaly, i just cant be bothered to rummage so i'll just get new tubes cos they weigh twice as much as regular tubes what with all the extra rubber atatched to them

I still have a 12 year old Michelin Airstop tube - is a patchwork quilt!

  • Why because I don't fix punctures???

hmmmm....this tubeless/slime solution/or just a plain old inner tube thing has still got me thinking.....what was wrong with plain old inner tubes! I know others get on really well with the various tubless options, but noone has stated that they no longer get punctures!...so i am back to thinking that this is a solution without a problem!

I patch them until a puncture os so close to another patch that the patches would overlap....or when there is less tube visible than patch!

Carry a spare in the bag and mend the punctured one when I gte home (unless I get 2 punctures on the same day, in which case I will patch it on the trail.)

never had a puncture with my panaracers, best solution I have ever come across
  • The terrain out here is just pure abuse on tyres and tubes, sharp rocks spikey death stars thorns ect ect

Slime tubes last anything from a week up to about a month, if I ride without slime I have a puncture within a few mins every time, even running dual ply.

Winter riding is not as bad though.

    Again, muppet :P

You're not meant to patch slime tubes, it wont work because of the slime! Instead you re-inflate the tyre and then spin the wheel lots and fast and this pushes the slime to the edges and fills the holes.
