does the sportive have a website?
the best way is hang off the back end of a group if u dont know your way around the course or if the sign postings are a bit invisible. i am amazed its on a saturday.
theres this one here http://www.makeadifferenceinmalawi.co.uk/?q=cycle-run
if you want to try it instead.

It's not cheeky.
I have no friends, and do it all the time.
Just go to front of the group once in a while.Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.0 -
Don't be
I did a sportive on my own last year. I talked to plenty of people at the food stops and I worked in little groups for a few sections of the course.
Just take your turn on the front if you can and you'll proably find as I did that you'll strike up conversations with random strangers on the way round.

+1. You can have a chat and make some friends ...0 -
Go for it!
I did the Manchester 100km going on my tod last year and had a great ride. I hooked up with some people and had some good chats.
There's more chance you'll regret not going than going I reckon..

I'm a newbie to sportives this year and have done 2 on my own and 2 with company.
Obviously it's better with company but when on my own i've met up with the odd group going at my speed and if you can do some turns at the front they'll welcome you. I've also spent a fair bit of time on my own on these rides - so you need to expect a bit of that as well.
Try it and see - i'm sure you'll enjoy it.0 -
Hey, done this sportive two years in a row now (In Ballymena Road Club). Every year it gets a turn out of over 100+ people. You cant fall behind. There will be groups for all speeds. Last year I went with the race men, but there where lots of casual groups coming in at the finish. Do it, its great fun!"It was eleven more than necessary."

larne to cushenden for lunch then back to larne. hills are easy gradual and some flat sections, just a bit rough in places. anyways best be there early - larne leisure centre car park isnt big and neither are the roads that lead to it.0

if there is only one leisure centre in larne its down towards the harbor, turn left on to tower road.0

Assuming that you'll not be doing "through and off" and it's a relaxed informal group, it will depend on the gradient and your strength relative to the others. But basically the idea will be that you're putting in an effort that you're going to be able to sustain repeatedly. So something like 75-80% of your max, until you're just starting to feel the effort. I guess that it's normally somewhere between two and five minutes. If the others are stronger, it would be at the lower end, if weaker then the upper end.0 -
