But we are all, by definition, 'forum people' so clearly what we think is utterly irrelevant!

Irrelevant to Cavendish, but since when did that stop us from running our keyboards?

Interesting, a lot of support so far. I'm not sure really. He hasn't done it before and there are some immense mountain stages ahead - 7 in total I think.

He's finished the Giro though, which is far harder in terms of climbing.

There are only 4 high mountain stages to go. I'm sure he'll do it save for an accident/illness.

Everyone should vote no just to piss him off and make him try harder.

Would it be prudish to point out that Bradley Wiggins is putting in a far more reliable, consistent performance and is in the top 5 some 130 places in front of Cavendish?

The difference being that Cavendish will be riding up the Champs Elysees in a leader's jersey, and Wiggins won't.

He hasn't done it before because his team pulled him out. And last year he quit early to train for the Olympics.

Unless he crashes, he'll make it to Paris no problem whatsoever.

You don't go training the Ventoux as Cavendish has done if you don't intend making Paris.

Yes, he will get to Paris.
He finished last year's Giro OK (higher up the GC than Bradley Wiggins :!: ), and he climbs better now than he did then.
