Which pedals?

I've been doing my evening commute by bike for a couple of months now; getting the train in the morning with a short ride either end, and then cycling all the way home after work. This is fine, and suits the fact that I'm not too good at doing exercise in the mornings, but it's about time I dusted off the road bike and had a go at cycling both ways. I haven't even sat on the road bike for about 5 years, but it should still work. Here's my dilemma:

The Brompton has spds, which are pretty much ideal. The road bike has regular clipless pedals (Look, I think). Do I ride the road bike with its existing pedals, and then risk life and limb clattering around the office's polished stone floors in silly shoes with slippery cleats, or do I buy another pair of spds for the road bike and ride in MTB shoes? WIll proper road pedals make a difference? How much do I need to spend to get a decent pair of spds?

Not looking forward to the dramatic reduction in FCN; maybe I should get one of those lollipops to compensate?

i'd buy a apir of spds for the roadie - if you're commuting, you'll be thankful of the MTB shoes what with all the stop-go shenanigans.

Actually, i've probably got a pair of SPDs you can have for a packet of crisps and a couple of beers, if you're in the London area...

Yeah regular spd's are great for the commute the other good thing is you can be tight and only have one pair of shoes or you can have a pair for each bike, then youve got a spare pair if one gets wet.

Get eggbeaters. They look good which is what really matters and they're much more compact when you're folding up the Brommie and also you'll have great fun picking which one's to get now that you'll have to buy two sets.
