I can't take the pressure...

I've been suprised by how often I need to add more air into the tyres of the road bike, probably should do it every couple of weeks.0 -
90lbs on my 25c's (and 23c's). Personally I think how hard your tyres need to be depends on your bodyweight. Michelin actually have a recommended gradient of tyre pressure to bodyweight and their recommendation's roughly what I use.
I recall getting my track pump and sticking 110 in it, felt like I was riding a pnuematic drill! I let the air out straight away...though keeping them harder than when I had previously used a standard pump. Then when I got some (rubbish) Michelin tyres I noticed the packaging had a table of pressures relating to bodyweight. If you have panniers and fully load them and then sit on your bike, you'll probably notice the tyres flattening out quite a bit due to the extra load and the ride will be affected by this as much as the imbalance of weight. For m/cycles too there are often different tyre pressures recommended for taking pillion passengers. I once gave a lift on a vespa 90 to someone twice as big as me and that was a pretty hairy experience, the tyres went right down and it was like riding with a puncture, not exactly the same situation, but same principle.
Basically, if you're heavier then a higher tyre pressure may be right, but if you're a matchstick like me (sub 9stone), it's likely to be a comfort killer.

I can't ride anything less than 120psi on the back wheel or the bike/s will feel like they're dragging.
Even at the pressure you can see the back tyre being squashed....
I do go through my tyres quickly...
The harsh ride and road vibration is taken care of with a carbon seat post and a quality seat.Food Chain number = 4

Do you swap rear and front tyres around (I am noticing a lot more wear on mine), or just keep replacing the back one?"Bed is for sleepy people.

I have always just replaced the back tyre I never swap. In fact I don't think I've ever needed to replace a front tyre....Food Chain number = 4

i tend to leave it at just over 100ish which seems to be the sweet point, for me, though old red is big old steel bike so she tends to soak up most of the what the surrey lanes can dish out. though she's not light! mind you neither am I.0
