Not sure he'll appreciate being described as having a "Rod Stewart-style mullet"...

Good article, thanks. And of course his placing is even better now they've dropped that 15sec loss. Go Wiggo!

Thanks for the link. Good read.

Placed 5th on GC after 11th stage - need say no more!

Nocentini in yellow then the 3 Astana big guns ahead of him. Amazing. Keep it up, Brad.

"A swashbuckling figure with a Rod Stewart-style mullet"

    hahahaha
  • "I know some think I'm on drugs," [Wiggins] said.
I haven't heard it mentioned once and I'm a bit surprised by that, as his performance so far has been a revelation.

Really? There have been undercurrents floating around for days now about it.. No one trusts anyone to show unusual form anymore.

If Wiggins starts sinking like a stone in week 3 and others start getting faster, then we'll see who's on drugs...

    another Wiggins article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/16/sport ... ur.html?em

    "that's what I'm talking about"
  • He said after the summit finish stage, when he was really excited and punched teh team van! "... i know some people will think i'm on drugs now, but that's just the way cycling is". Maybe that's the quote that was used?

    I'm wondering two things:

    1. Can he sustain it in the final week.

    2. What happens when Contador attacks - can Wiggings follow?

A Brit 5th at this point is superb but its still early days.

    No, and
    No

Sure 11 stages in, but let's not kid ourselves here; the Pyrenees were a non-event.

I think he will finish 10-15th.

    Still a great position.

That said, I'd love him to finish 5th. Wonder whether LA would call this Tour 'a joke' like the '08 version?
