Thats not too shabby at all, I've only ever run on 10k race, in gateshead I remember it being very hilly and cold. My Pb is 55mins... You'll make it to that relatively quickly with some dedicated training

Nice one Gray - good to beat that hour!
What sort of terrain?
Best is 42 mins so far all off road - not tried a road 10k yet.
Did a VERY off road one three weeks ago - 10.6km, 105 steps, fallen trees to scramble over, streams to cross, loads of hills - 50m50s and 10th out of 150. I couldn't walk properly for three days!
Keep at it Gray - that's really good going. It's a "sport" you can do anywhere, anytime with almost no kit. Love biking but sometimes running is so much handier.0 -

Thanks guys for your support!! I am really chuffed with how quickly I've come on in terms of endurance and stamina in the running!
considering 6 weeks ago I could barely run 0.5 miles without being out of breath!
It was mainly flat on the treadmill due to typical scottish evening weather! RAIN - I did have some incline set on it to make it more realistic though....
Did notice this morning though my stomach (gut area) was aching lots - (like i was going to get a dose of the Garry Glitters!!) But nothing came of it..... only thing I can put that down to is the fact I was running for 1hr solid so it must have put a strain on my core muscle group??
Delighted I cracked the 1hr!!!! rest day today and then back for a light short distance plus weight training tomorrow night! It's been a while...0 -
Mega progress indeed.
Just noticed your location - absolutely perfect for fell running...0 -
Good effort GD! I'm a relative newcomer to running too after commiting to a half-marathon a few weeks back. Managed it in 1:55, which I was really pleased with after only 4 weeks of training (baking hot sunshine too).
It's a good idea to line up some events for motivation, such as 5 or 10k races, just gives you a reason to pull on your trainers and go for a run when you might not bother otherwise.
Next one for me is a charity 4 miler, which hardley seems worth bothering with now, shows how much you can come on in a relatively short period if you keep at it. 10k race in November is the next one after that, plenty of speedwork from now.Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

Graydawg Nice one mate! Well done!
ALOT of people in this country can't even run 1 mile. So to be running 6 in under an hour is good!
My best 10k time is 39.40, but will have gone up considerably... Probable 45ish now. Too much biking!

Blimey Bigchaz - was that on road or off? Impressive on road, very impressive off. Think I could break the 40m barrier on road but that type of running bores me to tears.0
