Yep now we will be demonised again, but more to the point a little lad is seriously injured.

That wasn't a cyclist. Pure scum of the earth.
Poor kid, I hope he gets better soon.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame
Voodoo Bizango - 2014 - Dead - Hit by a car

Horrible - hope the kid gets well soon, sounds like there's no permanent damage likely touch wood. The guy on the bike maybe didn't stop to avoid being lynched! As always there isn't really much to go on in terms of allocating blame although the fact the incident happened in an underpass and he didn't stop isn't a good start.0

A 3 year old kid for god's sake! How could you hit and run? I can understand that some people may not have the amount of guilt and confidence to stick around for bumping into a car in a carpark (which is wrong too), but how do you ride into a 3 year old kid fast enough to cause that much damage, and not stick around. Does he have the compassion part of his brain missing or something? What a total c*nt!0

I know I'll get slaughtered for this, but hey ho...
Looking at the injuries, the child was knocked over and landed on his face with his arm probably breaking his fall, as we instinctively do. He's only three tho and it doesn't take much to knock one of those over. As much as we'd all like to find the miscreant and lynch him there's a good possibility that he actually did no more than brush past the boy, or even scare him as he went past and the tumble was the outcome. We don't know.
We have [supposedly] the word of an understandably hysterical parent, although there's nothing on the report to indicate what the parent reported, only the dry words of a plod that do more than describe the incident. Who's to say how much the story had grown by the time a statement was taken and the child had been attended to, medically speaking?
It's hardly an open & shut case, despite what some opinions on here might suggest. Still - he's given cyclists a bad name so string him up. Let's not get facts in the way of a good child abuse story.0 -
The bike was a red mountain bike, which is likely to be damaged.
Doesn't sound like a brush past on the basis of that. How hard to you have to hit a three year old to damage an MTB?
(Accepting, of course, that the comment about the bike being damaged may be hyperbole.)Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.0 -
You've got to love the internet. A dude hits a toddler with a bike, scarpers and people can argue into the night and beyond about it0

I suppose thats always possible. The Police stated that they think his bike will be damaged and that there were a lot of witnesses. Hopefully one or two of those witnesses will come forward and shed light.0 -
How many of us as parents would ever let our 3 year olds near a road without a hand to hold on to?
Just a thought, still no excuse to leave the scene mind you.0 -
Anyone involved in any accident should always stop. Not to is unforgivable.
As an aside I was personally impressed that the BBC was able to spell the word "cyclist". It must be new to the newsroom as previously they've NEVER reported the deaths of cyclists caused by cars or HGVs.Pain is only weakness leaving the body0 -

Im sorry but you surely cannot be arguing the point of this scum bag!!!
Whether he hit the little lad head on or just glanced him, with the amount of damage that he has sustained surely the b*stard knew what he had done!! You cannot possible cause that much damage to someone and not know about it.
He is just a complete TW*T and I hope someone gets hold of him and breaks his knee caps!
Tino. :twisted:Speciallized Allez 09...great bike shame about the wheels!!0 -

They were on an underpass; in MK these are mixed ped / cycleways, many in a state of poor repair esp down that end of town.
I withdraw ny earlier comments m'learned colleagues, on the basis of a fuller report that I've since read. It states that the cyclist ploughed into the group, incl the mother and a smaller baby, the toddler ended up 'tangled in the chain and gears' and the spikes on the ring stuck in the boy's head. The miscreant paused and then scarpered, leaving the mother screaming.
String him up then. Git.0 -
