You sit on a gel pad, and lean forward, then stand up. It leaves 2 impressions of your 'sit bones' and then the shop assistant can recommend you the correct width saddle.
Either that, or get a proper 'bike-fit' session. WELL worth it, if you spend a long time in the saddle!

Something like that, but dressed up in fancy words.
Usefull if you've never been measured before. If you're 'sit bones' support your weight, opposed to your muscle and soft tissue, is alot more comfortable!

Ok cool, ill have to pop down to the nearest dealership. Ive tried various saddles, but they all put pressure on my soft bits. I just need a saddle thats wider for my a55!
Just buy a Charge Spoon Ti. After trying a few saddles, including a WTB Rocket and WTB Devo Ti, I finally picked up a Spoon Ti. Most comfortable saddle yet, and the Ti rails are great too.
On the flip side, my mother got measured up for a saddle by specialized and finds the result to be really uncomfortable. Either the science behind the selection is wrong, or the sales guy misinterpretted it.

Basically an censored print then..
And yes, proper bike fitting is well worth it.

So bone structure, not soft tissue
But then, I've always got on with Specialized saddles. They are very good, but not for everyone. Can't hurt in looking though!

Cannondale Supersix Evo Disc
The Specialized saddles really aren't for everyone. I know people who would rather sit on a tenderising hammer than a Specialized saddle...
But in general, I've found most people like / love them. I love mine!
