Hi guys,

Just wondering when the 2010 bikes are announced and fully on sale? (Been out of the biking loop for too many years!) The annoying thing is my cycle plus scheme at work ends on the 7th of august, but I can use it to pre-order a bike up to 4 months in advance.

Just interested in getting myself a Commencal Ramone, SLX version hopefully, just wondering what the prices are going to be and when they're out.

Cheers guys.

I'm in a similar position - quite fancy an orange crush, but they seem to be sold out - so waiting for 2010 release dates

Funny, that. If they make their own bikes in their own factory, in their own home town, you'd think it would be impossible to sell out.

Why is your cycle scheme ending?

It's a Cycle Plus scheme, it's only open for 3 weeks. You get a quote for what bike you want and accessories, the bike shop hold it for you. The cycle plus scheme don't release the payment until the end of the 3 weeks (which is odd IMO), then I can get the bike.

The dates I've gotta find a bike between is the 13th July until 7th August, but whatever amount I request can be valid for 4 months I think...

I was quite annoyed when I went to Merlin Cycles as I rang them up before hand explaining that I'll be getting a bike on the cycle scheme and what bike im interested in - they said pop down and we'll sort you out. I got down there (30 mile drive), decided I wanted the Combi Deluxe, I was then said he'd knock up a quote on it. The lad came back a minute later and said oh, I'm afriad we can't let you have this bike on cycle plus scheme as these are selling out and by the time it's approved we wont have any left. So I'm thinking why the hell did I get told to come down then? I started asking about 2010 models, asking what hard tails are in that range - they said oh they won't be any hard tails anymore, they weren't making enough on them. I then go home, look on the net and find there are some hard tails coming next year.

That's the first and last time I go to Merlin! I am kinda tempted to email and complain about them wasting my time.

    Grumble.

Sounds like they were just being honest and not wanting to let you down, which is a good thing.

Wrong about the 2010 advice i admit, so maybe as you say send them a mail and maybe you'll get someone who is more switched on.

30 miles not the end of the world but I know how gutting it can be to get let down over kit, happens to me all the time, but then I am not the luckiest person in the world..

IIRC the Crush frame isnt made in uk by Orange, its imported, so they advance order the required number for the year, hence sold out now, also the new 2010 frames (well the P7 at least) should be available next month.

    etc...

I know mate, it was just the fact that I was told it would be no problem on the phone and when I got there they said no. Quite frustrating, now I think Leisure Lakes bikes have sold out of them as well, which I could of gone down to them instead :(. It was the Commencal Combi Deluxe that I was after.

Does anyone know when the 2010 Commencal bikes will go on sale?

Er, why would you think that?

Well, MArin, for one, only do one large shipment into the UK every year. Once they're gone, that's it, no more until the next product year.
However, with Orange, surely if they're running low on frames, then they just knock up a few more?

Unless they don't have the required tubing in stock, or they aren't busy building something else, or they have a new frame design for 2010, or about a million other reasons why they might not just manufacture some more frames at the drop of a hat.

Lol I just read their 2009 brochure for Orange bikes and their brouchure implies that they build their own frames!!

I quote from page 5 of their brochure "The Halifax team who build our bikes are nothing short of craftsmen - expert metalworkers, engineers and welders who live and breathe bike building.

I still want an Crush tho!
