Disc Pads, do I wear them in first for longer life ?

There will be someone out there with the answer, I'm sure.

I'm new to MTB (have been a road bod for years) and have had several 'gems' of advice. I'm due to get delivery of my new bike next week and I've been told to find some steep hills, get some speed up and wear in the disc pads. Apparently this will increase their life and reduce the speed at which they wear away.

Is this the right thing to do, some folk say yes, others no?

Yours confused

yes you need to bed them in.
this can be done justy but using the brakes normally.

Makers say that the pads need to bed in ..... some say 100 applications and some say less.

Personally i just do not get them too hot in the first use.

You don't need a steep hill.Just ride fast and apply the brakes but don't lock the wheel.Do this 10-15 times and the brake pads will be "bedded in"Make sure its dry when doing this.
