Well I picked this up last year courtesy of C2W:
I decided that I wanted to create a bike as light as possible for road & light XC use.
I bought a hybrid racer thing as well but I couldnt get on with that, so I decided to concentrate on this bike.
The saddle was changed to a lighter one:
Different tyres were put on it (Specialized Crossroads):
New pedals & a Shimano XT crankset were put on:
New XTR shifters put on:
New Ritchey ECS carbon bar & alu stem & trip computer:
The old grips seemed a bit slippery when sweaty so these went on:
These came last week:
They are Hope Pro 2 hubs with Mavic 717 rims

This leaves me with a set ofheavier XC wheels with XC tyres as spares:
with the lighter wheels & urban tyres on for normal use/

I reckon the bike should be about 10.5 kg with pedals.
I am now debating what mods to do next to lighten it further. Maybe a carbon seatpost & new fork could be next/

thats alot of expensive upgrades there mate. but why oh why have ugot semi slick road tyres on it????? for love of god dont say you only ride it to commute and on towpaths :shock:0

IT is used for XC & some tracks but the majority of time it's used on the road to get to the tracks. I do not see the point in taking the bike in the car somewhere to ride it.
THe tyres that are on it seem to handle the fields & tracks well too. They seem to be the best compramise:

But on saying that I have not used the XC tyres at all yet, so I may find out what I have been missing out on./

the crossroads are not as bad as they look off road, but they are if you let them loose on mud, garrarnteed hilarity0 -
Cheers for the comments.
Yeah I know what you mean about the crossroads. I havent tried them in mud or poor conditions but I am under no illusions that they will be any good!
Thats when Ill switch wheels over to the my spares with Racing Ralph/Nobby Nics on :roll:/
