Strategy for a 24h race (team of 2 riders - relay)

Hi guys,
I'm new there!
In one month and a half, I'll attend a 24 hours race with a friend, we'll have to relay to make the maximum distance we can. (it's on a 4.1 km track, in Le Mans, France).
What is the strategy for relaying?
I thought about 2 hours relays the 8 first hours, 3h30 for the night (the other can sleep) and finish with 1 hour (*2 obviously), 2 hours (82) and 30 mins (*2, to give everything at the end).
But is 2 hours too long? On the other side, relaying will imply to lose let's say 2 minutes and the risk is not to be able to find a new group to ride (there will be 250 teams).
We plan 600 kms (quite low but we prefer being pessimistic, above 600 will be our victory!).
I'm kinda lost then!
What would your strategy be?
