BMI Good news/ Bad news

Booked to fly to Lyon on Saturday with BMI who have just called me to say that their webiste has overbooked the number of bikes on their flight by a factor of 5!
They are proposing, for no extra charge to ground transport bike the day before to arrive in Lyon before or at the same time as me, based on it leaving the day before. Whilst this will remove the hassle of getting bike onto plane (one way at least) I am frankly terrified about missing my connecting TGV to get to Bourg St Maurice to watch the Tour, or having to leave Lyon without my bike!
Anyone any experience with such things?
