Tora are far better than the Darts.
Difference between air and coil is exactly that - one has a coil spring and one works via air. Advantage of air units is that you can typically vary the compression rate easily by changing air pressure in the fork.. Preference for the feel of air v coil when riding is entirely personal.
http://www.sram.com/en/rockshox/crosscountry/tora/#tab2You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Air forks tend to be lighter than coil forks, but have more delicate internals and can be more expensive to fix if they go wrong. That said they usually have a wider range of adjustment than coil forks which can be easily accomplished using a dedicated fork pump.
In general coil forks have a plusher feel than air due to there being less inertia in the spring - but that said the gap is narrowing somewhat and a good air fork will replicate a coil fork's feel and action.0 -
coils have a more linear feel, air forks tend to ramp up towards the end of the travel.
Air forks get a bit more sticktion in the travel as the seals need to be tighter to keep the air in!0 -
I have the Tora SL Coils on my Scott and they feel great. Very responsive.0

Dart 2 and 3 are a lesser fork, only using less width on the stanchions so there going to be more flexible, the lowers are likely heavier to, if your a light weight rider on a budget then they'll be fine for most things.0
