Car racks

Is there anywhere you can go to try out car racks before buying to make sure they fit?
I like the look of the Saris Bones but my car's got a spoiler which might interfere.

I don't know of anyone that that offer a try before you buy service. What car are you going to fit the rack too?
Do you have a towbar fitted. If so IMMO I think that the Thule towbar mounted bike racks are great. Failing that, if the spolier is an issue, have you considered a roof mounted carrier?
I'm not a fan of the cycle carries that obscure your rear lights/indicators on the car. Really dangerous, and illegal.0 -
Agree with the recommendation for the Thule towbar racks.
They are very easy to fit and remove and are well designed.0 -
I don't have a towbar or a roof rack so would prefer one that straps onto the boot.0

I don't have a spoiler but I do have a kind of lip above my rear window. I was able to use a Saris Bones absolutely fine when CJCP kindly lent it to me, and I have since purchased my own. Excellent racks.
Here's a pic of the "lip" I mean - NB this is not my car and those are NOT my custom bodywork additions

My car's a saloon and unfortunately it is a proper spoiler. Will try to find a pic of a similar model.0

Ok, this isn't my car but the back of mine looks like this:
As I said, I do not have a towbar or a roof rack and I don't really want to get either fitted.0
