Bike security...

What methods have any of you come up with for temporarily securing your bike? A chain and padlock is OK for locking the bike up whilst supermarket shopping, but is there a simple, quick and reasonably secure way of locking a bike for 15 seconds e.g. whilst nipping in the newsagent for a paper? It's the hassle of getting the chain out, searching for the key to unlock it then looking for something to secure the bike to. Ideally, a steering lock similar to motorcycles have would be ideal. Is there such a device? Any other ingenious solutions?

For a quick dash, just a cheapo lock. Make sure no chavs are about though.
Or put in the highest gear and loosen the stem bolts.0 -

At least you'd be able to hear it getting stolen.0 -
I only nip about on a cheapo hack bike so never leave my proper bike anywhere. I don't take a lock when out riding my mtb and therefore never have he temptation to lock it anywhere. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0
