I like the fact that the Tufftrax has tyres more suited to what they're more likely to be used for.
How many people will still buy another model because the big fat knobblies look "cooler" is another matter though.

Yes, an interesting move by Saracen, and hopefully one that will work. Good to see a 8 sped groupo in there, as many 300 quid bikes for 2010 are 7 speed, some with freewheels.

Mantra seems to have gone for tthe big discs over a decent fork option - would rather see mech discs and better forks, though many may upgrade the forks anyway at some point.

    Thinking mans budget range lol.

Yeah. Always been a fan of Saracens. My first "proper" MTB was a saracen. All I had before them were cruiser frames with cantis, really.
I did break both saracen frames I had mind, but they were great, lightweight introductory bikes.

I had a Saracen NZyme back in 1999, which cost £300. The Dirt Trax doesn't look too diffferent in spec lol.

Have to say though, for road and towpaths - an MTB?! Maybe they are bikes to help people that also don't know what they want lol (as you say, many buy MTBs for roads and paths), but an experienced budgeteer may get a lot out of if takes off road on those tyres!

Those Jack tyres look absolutely identical to Kenda Small Block 8s...
