Brighton 100

I was thinking of doing the Brighton 100 (http://www.bike-events.com/Ride.aspx?id=220) in September. The route map is a bit sparse on the web site and I couldn't find it mapped out on mapmyride or bikely. Anybody have a more detailed map for this route with an elevation profile?
Thanks in advance

I have used route description and a little guesswork to set it up on routeyou.com. Private at the moment but I'll publish it openly in just a few minutes.
The profile looks very frightening to me (the London to Southend gentle 100ish km last week was my longest ever ride!) I'm about to blow the profile pic up to have a closer look and get even more worried.
Need to go up and down many hills before September to stand a chance of getting my 53 year old novice body even 1/2 way round.

I've just found your route on routeyou.com. Great stuff - thanks for posting that.
I asked the organisers for a more detailed route map but they haven't replied, kind of puts me off entering the event to be honest (I hope they at least know the detailed route!) but I'm still tempted
Definitely looks like there's a few stingers in there but I'm sure you'll be OK. Good luck.0 -
Thanks for your confidence.
I've just ordered an 11 - 34 cassette just in case - will look a bit silly spinning a Felt road bike like an MTB but at least I shouldn't burst a blood vessel !0 -

You won't look as silly as I did today, dragging round my Handjob Mountain bike on the London - Cambridge 60 mile route. Prepare for leg pain aplenty, great fun though.0 -
thanks for the info on this. Just after I come back from the US so might have a bit of jetlag on this one.
I have a 10 speed so can't get an 11-34 cassette for mine at the moment0 -
Let's keep this little topic thread quiet in case any of the skinny power riders who won't even turn up to a 100 unless there's at least 4000m ascent come to lol about people who worry about 1700m !0

I put an entry in for this in the end a week or so ago. Haven't received the info pack yet though. Has anyone got one? How close was Woodchurch's route?0

Any more info received? I'm in two minds about this one. The organisation seems pretty sub-standard.
Can someone post a link to Woodchurch's route?0 -

Thanks!
That's a nasty long bit along the A2590 -
Well, I've now got the race info through but it doesn't include a route map, which "we don't print until the day before the race is case there are any changes". Seems they're determined to make it a surprise! The start has changed from Hove sea front to Preston Park.0

I did this event on Saturday and had a good day out. It was a well organised and marshalled event with very good signs - no danger of any wrong turns.
The route was finally given to us seconds before the start and was quite different from the web-site. This was the first running of the event however so I'm sure there were discussions with councils leading up to the event. The end result was a lovely ride that was challenging but not extreme, the main climbs were around Jevington/Beachy Head at about 35 miles and Devils Dyke at 95 miles. It was bumpy in places in between but also relatively flat in sections too where you could build up a good rhythm. Good for a first century I'd say (it was mine). Managed a sub 6hr ride (plus a 30min compulsory stop at half way in Eastbourne) so pleased with that. I'm intending to add a report with a picture of the route to my blog later for anyone interested.0 -
Sadly I had a terminal mech hanger failure at Beachy Head, but up to then the route was superb. Apparently the route & start changes were courtesy of the Labour Party Conference and associated traffic/ security.0

Brief blog post here: http://bit.ly/16R90s. The route is just a picture of the card we were given, haven't had chance to put in bikely etc. Might have to wait for next year now!0
