Spec Roubaix v Orca Onix

Another one of those "what bike should I buy..." questions, so I'll keep it focussed and brief before I drive everyone daft...

I've whittled my long-list down to the Spec Roubaix (w Ultegra groupset) or the Orbea Onix Tour (ditto). Both seem well recommended, are similar price and I can source both from an LBS (my preference over Internet purchase). I am leaning towards the Orbea only because my current (first) bike is a Spec (Allez) which has been great but I fancy a change. I have no racing ambitions and will use it for Sportives/longish weekend runs.

If anyone has looked at both and made the jump I'd be grateful for their feedback.

Thanks.

It all depends on which fits you best and fulfills your riding goals. The Onix is sportier, one of our club members circuit races on one. I have a 07 Bira and it shares the same mould as the old Orca but uses a more comfortable weave of carbon. Both models are comfortable enough for 100 miles rides if you can get on ok with the position. Every one I have spoken to who owns a Roubaix loves them for the ride and comfort and I doubt you would be disappointed with one.

i am a beginner this year...bought the Spesh Roubaix Comp after much thought and forum searching. I didnt test the Orbea but they look lovely.
my Roubaix does what it says on the tin - very comfy once position sorted, great up hills and over medium distances ( i havent got fit enough for longer rides), i shoot past my mate on his Pinnacle Carbon..but he seems to be quicker on the flat and uses less cadence - he has the ability to go pretty quick over a few miles on the flat whereas my bike comes into its own as soon as well start climbing a bit. Great brakes, seems to corner well, feels like its part of me straight away.
I really love it - but did wonder if I should have got the Tarmac Comp instead as they reckon its v comfy yet also quickish on the flat.

Got an Onix last year as a do-it-all bike... And it does, I road race, sportif and train on it with no problems, A bit less nervy into a fast corner than my Cervelo was, but for my style that's perfect.

Last weekend I bought Spec Roubaix frame and I armed it overnight.
On sunday I did 100 km training and... Roubaix is great.
We did interval sprints during the ride (up to 53km/h) and I have to admit that this bike is fast and smooth.
    No reason to complain.

(maybe your friend is faster with less cadence because he is just stronger?)
