I'm new to road cyclying and prior to joining a club (and gauging my ability) I'd like to time myself over some TT routes just so I don't turn up and embarrass myself completely.
Is there anywhere I can find out routes, particularly in the North East/Durham area?
Thanks

Here's a list of course in the NE:

I think you only get descriptions and locations rather than maps though.0 -
Don't worry about your times before you enter. The great thing about time trialling is that it caters for every ability and age group.
Why not join a club now and take part in some evening 10s?
If you live in the Durham area Ferryhill Wheelers is a good club to join. Club 10s are held every Thursday at 19.00 in Sedgefield. Details of the course and times people do are on the website below.

If you are interested in the hillier courses on quieter roads take a look at this website which gives you proper descriptions and maps of courses. When I started time trialling I couldn't believe how difficult it was to get hold of course descriptions and maps were pretty non existent ( and this is only a few years ago ).

any good club wouldn't care what times you got, they just feel good to have you aboard, im 15 and i DNF my last race but they didn't mind because i turned up and gave it my best. ive done other races and got good results like 2nd in my first road race, still didnt stop some of the veterans and scratch group riders finding a floor in me after the race. just go out there and push, don't think about anything else put reaching the limit, then breaking it ! and if your bad the last thing a club would do is turn you away.
CLUBS GIVE ADVICE AND SUPPORTIt Never Gets Easier, you just get Faster and luckier.
