Shimano chains - no powerlink available?

In the past, I've always seemed to use either KMC or SRAM chains, but I've recently bought an XT cassette with XT chain.
Just fitted the chain and realised that Shimano have a connector pin ( ) and not a powerlink-style connector (which I think is one of the greatest inventions in the last few years). I assume that Shimano do not have such a product as the powerlink?
Now, I like to remove my chain when cleaning the bike, so I guess I'm kind of buggered now, aren't I! I prefer to remove the chain for cleaning, so I suppose I'll either have to remove the new chain and not use it (a bit of a waste), or put up with cleaning the bike with the chain on!

To be honest mate i've used a sram powerlink on a shimano chain before and know others have to.. never had a problem. Sure others on here will have done it too..0

Only used the crappy shimano pin once ever since I have used either Sram or KMC powerlinks on Shaimano chain with no problems.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Aaah!
I was going to ask whether that is possible, but I figured it wouldn't be. Thanks for the replies, guys!
Seems a lot of hassle with the pins, and I'm surprised a company such as Shimano don't have an equivalent of the powerlink!0 -
yer ya can use the said power links on shimano chains.0

i dont know how shimano ever thought the pin idea was a good one, i hate them and now buy kmc chains as they are the biz.
as abov, you can use any equivalent speed connector to join a shimano chain.0 -
Shimano have got an equivalent called the Quicklink however look at the cost
edit: just noticed its 10 speed only

I always snap shimano chains within a month. Crap crap chains.
I've found SRAM to be almost as bad, and have settled on KMC.0 -
i dont know if its a placebo but i think the x shape on the outer plates makes shifting smoother with kmc chains.0
-
Sram are good chains whilst kmc have a slight edge in smoothness.
I just bought it cos it's gold. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I'm gonna build a chain solely from sram powerlinks lol0
-
I use the KMC one and have had no issues in many years of use.
KMC manufacture the Shimano chains anyway.0 -

there was a sheldon brown april fools where you could send him a bunch of money for the"best chain ever" made from power links each individually lubed or something like that.0 -
Would be an interesting idea, take out the roller links then join them up using power links. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

[pedantic]You couldnt make a chain soley from powerlinks you would still need to use inner plates and rollers[/pedantic]Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Split links are only a quick fix. I wouldnt use them all the time0
