Is Assos quality as good as it used to be?

Went to put on my bibs this morning and noticed that the chamois is starting to disintegrate on one section. Well, maybe not disntegrate, but the material is looking very worn. Checked the outside and the lycra is looking worn and getting to be see-through in a couple of areas. These are less than a year old. Compared them to my old shorts (the ones with the orange insert), and they are in much better condition.
Anyone else had issues with the new range, or have I just got a duff pair?

Sounds like you might have a duff pair, however having them for 12 months doesn't say much. I've got mine for a bit longer than that but they get thrown in the wash many times a week in winter and more in summer.
I just got some lovely Panache bib shorts which are ever so comfortable - very comparable to Assos but without the lovely catalogue girl ! The pads are great and the reviews seem positive so it will be interesting to see them live up to it.0 -
Sounds like you have a duff pair imo, you could send them back to Assos.0

I had a pair of the new S5 shorts for 9 months until a load of holes appeared down one side and the bib straps came apart.0

I've had a problem with the S2 and S5.
After about a year the material disolves and becomes see through.
I take good care of them. According to Assos, it's something to do with my sweat.0 -
Pfft so I finally decide to bend-over and pay over the odds for some Assos Uno s5's (mainly to convince myself they're not worth it ) and now people post they fall apart in a few months! Not been on a ride in them yet but they best have magical properties (apart from readily identifying people with more money than sense).0

If it's any consolation my Assos did a wonderful job of not falling apart this weekend, despite me throwing myself down the road in them. Got a whacking great big graze down my leg but the bibs are untouched. Magic I tell ya. :-)0
