Well I commute almost every day now 100 miles a week.
......whilst I feel as long as I am sensible and careful,I shouldn't get in to trouble but if the worst happened and i got badly injured or killed is their an insurance policy i can buy that will pay out in these sort of circumstances. I've got a mortgage and two young kids you see.I aint bothered about insuring the bike, although if a policy includes that then great.
I did a quick forum search but couldn't find anything.
Anyone know of such a policy?
thanks

I know http://www.cycleguard.co.uk/ will cover you for third party insurance (i.e if you damage someone or their car/bike etc)
As for life insurance I couldn't say, I would assume any life insurance policy would cover you for travelling to and from work (though not if you took part in road races) try putting a quote through somewhere like http://www.moneysupermarket.com/LifeIns ... rance.aspx and see what the top 3 are, ring them up and ask the question of if it covers cycling to and from work (though before you buy tell the phone person you will think and phone arround, then delete all your cookies and go though the company on a site like www.quidco.com)
Also check if your employer has any from of employee insurance, and if you pay into a pension fund if that has anything to, know if my girlfriend pops her clogs there is some sort of cover.0 -
???? any life insurance would surely do!!! very strange question.0

I'm sure I've read elswhere that one or two insurers get tetchy at the idea of cycling to work as its "dangerous" in their eyes.
An odd perspective surely?
I was under the impression that statistically it imporved ones survival chances because of a lower risk of heart disease, etc. Or is that just an urban myth?FCN 7: Dawes Galaxy Ultra 2012 - sofa-like comfort to eat up the miles

I suppose it could have just been anti-cycling tripe. Best to ask the insurer obviously, rather than take advice straight off the web.0 -

The only thing I can recall is badly researched bollocks from the Liv & Vic. You'd need to check the specific wording but I very much doubt if any Life underwriter would either exclude or place special conditions on cycle commuting or utility riding in general.
Racing (including Time Trial) are normally excluded, as is 'pacing' so if you're sitting behind something it's conceivable there would be an exclusion.
FWIW I've done several Touring and Randonnee holidays and none of these had special conditions placed on the travel insurance - the trips were classed as 'general tourism'0 -
