the really are insanely grippy, but they make pedalling a REAL chore. Be warned!0

bah, pedalling doesn't bother me. Slipping, sliding and falling off does bother me
I think they might be too wide for my rims tho? Will have to check it out.Why has my sig been removed by the admins???0 -
If you drop your pressure too much you'll run the risk of pinch flats, you could always go tubeless and run around 20 to 25psi.0

Was it the rocky climb at the end of the black that you had to walk? It is tricky up that in the wet.
Cheers,
hmmm, can't remember! It was a steep climb that then turned left. As I was turning left wheels slipped and front end lifted. Couldnt start and get clipped in, so had to walk up the rest of it.
Just after the bridge? Thats where my missus fell over0 -
my kenda nevegal dtc 2.1 grip very well in the wet or dry in degla, and at the Marin trail in the wet
the dtc bit helps, the softer rubber on the shoulders, help on the berms, light tyre too!
run about 35 at the rear and 32 at the front, as i am wheels on the ground rider, pinch flats for me are not an issue, yet ( i weigh 82KG)
was thinking to try another tire, but tbh, why? i know how the nevegals grip now and how they let goGiant Trance X0 (08) Reverb, Hope Hoops 5.1D, XT brakes, RQ BC, Works Components headset 1.50 -
It definitely sounds like the double steep climb on the red to me, cross a fire road, and then uphill and a gentle curve to the left. I couldn't get up there the first few times, but now I'm fine, just get my head down and pedal, try to keep some weight on the rear wheel for traction and balance to prevent the front end coming up.
I don't think tyre choice will make a massive difference to your climbing, I go round on my kenda small block 8's in the wet, no major traction issues. Practice, practice, practice will have you flying round like a pro in no time. Just keep at it, and don't let any of the macho talk on here put you off.
I wouldn't like to go round LDG on a SS though, or without using my brakes :roll:0 -
As far as i remember (been a month or so) and going up soon to redo it. Llandeggla course is fun. the black bits are super smooth like a fun BMX track, but the rest of the trail red/black was fairly weak and unchallenging.
Mostly i remember it being very smooth for the area(MBR at coed and ex red-bull are way more rocky) and i rode it was a rear shock that had no damping as it had dropped its oil the day before (and there was no way i wasn't gonna head out for a ride there with peoples reviews). on this trail hard tails could be great fun i'd try it.
But for other rocky welsh trails i wouldn't want to be with out my all day comfort to protect my fat butt0 -

My tyres are probably fine for what I do, but I'm a bad workman, and I like to blame my tools!
I will drop the tyre pressures a bit for next time.
Then will do as you say...Head down and pedal like f*ck!
I will do it!
And the boardwalk, which I know is my bete noire :xWhy has my sig been removed by the admins???0 -

You must have bigger balls than me then palWhy has my sig been removed by the admins???0 -
not a case of balls,
more a case of just being used of rocky rooty trails. mostly a just remember the black bits being like a really big BMX Track. but the climbs were nice and easy, nothing technical to worry about so just pootle up them0
