176 Angelo Furlan (Ita) Lampre - NGC 0:31:57

120 k to go and he gets blown out the back, i spose the thought of beating Cav in a sprint got him through a lonely difficult day. Well done Angelo :D

I think he got back on, as he was the first to go out the back, presumably for the second time, as they headed into Andorra with about 25 kms to go. Shortly followed by Van Hummel. He did well to get within the time limit though.

The camera at the back of the peleton often provides the most interesting aspect of the race at start of long climbs like on today's stage. It's interesting to see who is amongst the first to drop out. I was surprised to see Alessandro Ballan in the first real group, of about 10 riders, that formed, normally he climbs better than that.

Pozzato, too. I know he's not a pure climber, or even a power climber, but I was surprised to see him shelled too soon.

Furlan, and to a lesser degree, Ballan are still banged up from falls in the TTT according to the daily updates on the Lampre web site.

    Great! He's battered and bruised.
Was struggling up the first cat, when the tempo was tranquilo.
Get through the weekend and he may yet live to fight another day.
