A classic indeed, saw the reformed band last year here in Blackpool at the punk fest, along with the sweet, which I have to say I quite enjoyed their set.
www.justgiving.com/aidyneal Cycling Manchester to Blackpool. Look out for number 1691
  • The Rats Tonic for the Troops tour was my first gig. Newcastle City Hall looks like July 2nd 1978 if this is right www.cyberspace7.btinternet.co.uk/pageea.htm .

I still have the vinyl but it doesn't come out much. Gig was ok. The next one was Ian Dury and the Blockheads and that was epic. Blockheads Oi Oi.
If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.

I was at that City Hall gig, though not my debut (Slade 1973, also City Hall).

    And the Loch Lomond festival

Daughter's just told me we're going to see Florence and The Machine, hint of Souxsie in her voice

I saw Slade at the Mayfair a few years later around about Christmas. It was a wild night.

The Mayfair - now we're talking.

There's an exhibition on at the Discovery Museum about the north east music scene - bound to be loads of Mayfair stuff. It's called North East Beat

Punk/New Wave was a great period in British music and culture/dress and no doubt, never to be repeated.

The music and lyrics were written with a purpose. I guess I'm still a Punk at heart!
