Name me a media player, with a twist

I want a program that lets me scroll through and play my films, displaying fan art, information about the film, ratings, and all that jazz. Sort of like itunes or songbird, but for films.
I've used XBMC before but don't want the hassle of maintaining such a fast-developing package again...
I run ArchLinux and Windows, so the program can be just about anything.
Since off Topic seems to have gone, I'm guessing the 'CrudCatcher' is a sold out version of the Sandbox and thus contains all the people 'in the know'... Does anyone know of anything like this, that isn't XBMC?
Thanks.

Does iTunes not do this in the 'Movies' library anyway? (I just use Front Row on my Mac)0

Archlinux and Windows but I get the feeling he'll have tried the usual suspects out, media portal, myth etc.
Tell you what i did see the other day: http://freevo.sourceforge.net/ and it's in the Arch repository: http://doc.freevo.org/ArchLinux
If you check it out let me know what you think. 8)0 -
Cee - I was after something a bit more exotic than itunes or wmp
Nick- I run Vista, XP, Arch, Ubuntu, and probably some form of Mac if I'm feeling adventurous with Virtualbox...
Cheers for the heads up about Freevo, Blister, I'll check it out and get back.

Heads up for techs, geeks and interested parties looking for information and alternatives in FLOSS media centre land. A comparison / overview chart:

Download the .pdf and have a gander, someone's took the time to collate information. Very nice and very slick of them. I'll even donate later on.0
