Was having a nose around and spotted these, a kit to convert your p7 torch to use battery packs, 2 mode torches are directly driven so you won't need an additional driver.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

They look good, I think I read about the development of these on Candlepower forums a while back.

Might get one when the nights start closing in, just need to factor in the 3-4 week wait time.

Yep, very cool they are... Though having said that, they're less of a brilliant option now that dealextreme make a dedicated bike light.

    You say this because?

If you go on STW and check out Trout's posts, you'll get a pretty different picture... There's been a lot of negative comments on MTB Britain, but all from people with vested interests- some from Fenix fanboys, some from DIY builders. Oh, and some from random internet goons, who hate the mounting but would be happy to buy any of the "proper" lights which use the same mounting method.

I'd mainly be worried about the battery pack, much rather be charging regular protected cells in a charger I can trust. Also very easy to replace the cells when they die (and Li-ion cells always die...)

Yeah, the charger thing is a slight worry. But the pack isn't really, since you could easily replace it with an equivalent battery pack, and you're no worse off.

So your saying we should buy both? :D

Or at least the battery holder...

Nah, just saying that you don't need to worry too much about the battery pack possibly failing
