Good bike shops on the western side of Essex/East London?

Hi all...I'm not really sure whether this is the best area to post this in. We'll give it a try!

I bought a new road bike from Bike and Run in East Finchley in the autumn and I need to have it serviced this week; I'm going to the Alps a week on Saturday and I want to make sure it's all ok lest I end up stranded with a horrendous mechanical miles from anywhere. The trouble is that I live in Upminster and have no time to get my bike to East Finchley between now and then: I'd have to go part way by train and you can't take bikes on it in the rush hour, meaning that as I have a full time office job, I'm a bit stuck.

So, getting to the point, can anybody recommend a good bike shop where I could get it serviced in the vague vicinity of Upminster? Somewhere like Brentwood or Basildon would do. I've done a Google search but it's hard to tell which shops are serious road shops. I want to go to someone I can trust! Any help much appreciated!

There's a new bike shop in Wanstead, and a good one in Chingford too - not sure if that's any good but very close to A406 if travelling by car.

Trevor at Ciclos Uno on 8500 1792

37 New north Rd Barkingside, race bikes his speciality.

Be specific, tie him down and your fine , never hand over a bike and say, "do what ever it takes/ you like", to any one.
  • Never bought or had any work done there, but have a look in ChainLink in Hornchurch near The Harrow. Trouble is a week might be too short notice for him.

Otherwise The LBS next to Elm Park Station is supposed to be good, going to get mine looked at there next week.
