Hi Guys,
Im having a bit of a blonde moment and need some help on this,
Hello Rob,
In relation to your recent purchase of the RockShox Reba World Cup Fork - it has come to our attention that the forks have been distributed with a crown race already fitted which could lead to complications with installation.
Could you please reply to this email with your current situation regarding the forks...
Have you managed to get them fitted? Did you remove the crown race? Are they as yet unfitted?
We are working on a solution with the supplier to rectify this problem and will aim to tailor a solution on an individual basis to resolve the issue with the minimum of hastle.
Sorry for any Inconvenience caused
Adrian

The 'crown race' is a part of a headset. Its a disk that specifically fits into the bottom bearing of the headset. And is fitted to the steerer on your forks, the crown race MUST be compatible with your headset otherwise it will screw up your headset/forks/both
All headsets are different, and therefore all crown races are different.
Seems like they are saying that there was one already on there which there shouldn't be, and that it would have to be removed from the fork and the correct crown race added.
Did you fit them yourself, or your LBS?
More info needed mate.0 -
Cheesy,
Ok im getting the jist of it now, i fitted them myself easy enough to do and noticed no crown race on the steerer tube, so i put on my current crown race now i remember where it isthats with the current headset on so it sits flush with the semi-int bearings, if it is fitted do i just remove it myself is that the best option im away so i cant check now so im going purely off memory.

Sounds like you have done it alright, as long as you have not put one crown race on top of another......
Sounds like you should be OK.
Whats probably happened is that the forks are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) that come on new bikes that have not been built up yet, these are sometimes over-ordered so we (the punters) can get them cheaper than normal.
The suppliers were probably worried they had shipped some out with races on.....
It happens...
PS: great forks!!! 8)0 -

i would pull the fork off and just check that you have one race on the steerer and it is the one you expect for your headset."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
