Likewise, i should have had my oakleys arrive days ago, i phoned them up and it seems they're having 'industrial action' up in london so it's buggered up all of their mail gah!!!

Saying that crc has sent me something i ordered yesterday, must have been to do with what route it took.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

The Royal Mail round our way are incredible - way better than Parcelfarce and the other couriers. It seems they will do anything other than take the parcel back to the sorting office. They leave stuff with the neighbours, inside the porch or just lob it over the garden gates. Hardcore.

Where I am if your not in and something can't fit through your letterbox it goes straight back to the depot, which luckily for us is about 5 minutes down the road. I was once expecting a parcel and left a note on the letterbox asking to hand it to my neighbour. When I got in I had a 'You weren't in' notification that said I wasn't there and neither was my neighbour. However my neighbour had been in all day :?

my postie is a lazy cunt he lives over the road but still insists on taking the parcels back to the depo which shuts at 1 which is the same time he gets back there.

I've never known such a rrrubbish company.. They are on strike again!!! Well in London they are, and now the muppets in the Bristol office are thinking of striking too.

Typical really, you need a wheel for Sunday, and it gets held up by Royal Fail !

Oh god. RoyalMail/ParcelFarce (same bunch of muppets effectively). I could write a book on the hassle I've had from them two.

What really takes the piss currently is that a lot of posties just card you now even though you're in. They probably don't even have the parcel with them anyway. Never ring the bell either.

Still, it's an improvement on leaving recorded delivery parcels on the doorstep in full view of a busy road having ripped the recorded sticker off in an attempt to hide the fact it was recorded and needs signing for. I really should have denied receiving the parcel and ask for evidence of the signature. Though when I was after proof of delivery of an item I sent, they couldn't find the signature and wiped their hands of it (the status claimed it was delivered though, but end company denied it had been).

Same here, it's like they'd be personally letting themselves or their families down if they didn't deliver the items in their vans round here.

I'm waiting for them to release an animation called 'Postman Pat - Like f**k am I taking it back to the sorting office'

I know there is already an 'adult' version of Postman Pat on youtube btw

Toying with the idea of some basic grey lenses and a lairy orange frame but £125 seems a bit steep.

just got back from work and they just turned up to doo as i was walking up the road, they wouldnt give me the parcel even though i was opening the door with the keys :S

said they had no way of proving i lived here
  • Some years ago my I ordered some parts and asked them to be delivered to my neighbour who was off work sick with knee damage. He was sat no more than 10ft away from the front door. The courier knocked on the and posted 'you were not in letter' in lest than 10seconds which did not even give my nieghbour a chance to move more than a foot from the chair.

Shall we say he got a ear bashing from my nieghbour when he found that he had not even bothered to bring the parcel from the van as no-one is usually home and could not give it to him as a not delivered note had been delivered. He had filled in the paperwork before even trying the house.

I now get all my parcels delivered to my work address as I know someone is there and it will be signed for.

Never had a problem with Royal Mail.
Any parcels always get delivered at 07:30,
Anything smaller comes with the bike postie at 13:00,
    Always very polite.
If I'm in bed after nights the parcel is sometimes hidden under my car with a note through the letterbox.
And if not, depot is only 5 minutes away, and open quite late.

Have always had good experiences when posting stuff too. Parcels to my sister in London usually arrive next day, even if I have not paid for next day lol.

Nah got them from ebay, £93 with a red iridium lens, perfect for sunny weather but not so everywhere else so got me some persimmon vented lenses from crc for when it gets murky, i will get me clear lenses for those night rides when it gets darker but for now those two will more than suffice.

For general biking most use g30 or persimmon, it sharpens things up whilst toning down glare, works very well.

  • My postie is great, it's the rest of the organisation have a problem with. A little while ago, I won a pair of snowboard pants from a mag - RM have only gone and lost the flinking things! deeply unimpressed.

i ordered my scott road bike off the net and was told it would be delivered tues day it was thurday evening when i ordered it and the shop said they wold get it from their warehouse build the bike check it and dispatch it monday i would get it tues..

so i get up tuesday no bike i email the shop and wait,,, later on my dad goes to put the rubbish in the bin in the back yard and theres my scott bike thrown over the side gate all the box is damaged and ripped and the mudguard is bent....

biggest insult of all i paid £20 to have it thrown over the gate and damaged....
  • Industrial action delayed my next day delivery to several days a couple of weeks back. Came home to find the package on the doorstep where anyone could have nabbed it.
    Not happy about that.
It wasnt recorded delivery tho' which has always been fine for me in the past.

I've had stuff fail to make an appearance before but a call to the credit card company refunded my money.

When I was younger, I worked as a postie I was f**kin awesome............
  • ordered big disc conversion and calipers for the car

had to go to the depot to pick up and kicked off big time

said i'd sat in all day waiting for it with the dog and even kept the dog in the house so he'd not scare the postie (he was a stupid thick collie, more likely to lick you to death than bite, dog not postie) and i was right next to the door either inside or outside the house

gave address and told the guy he should have who ever delivered it apply to the SAS as only they would get past my mutt. as he had never failed to that point in alerting us to someone even walking up the path never mind ringing the bell.

Still not as bad as the average courier service IMO, it seems to be a point of honour for DHL to never ever make a pickup or drop on schedule, but to throw a huge hissy fit if you're ever 1 minute late for a pickup.

Our local guys are really bad for not attempting to make a delivery- just walking up and posting the "you were out" card then legging it. Sometimes I've even heard the letterbox go and given chase, just in time to see him jump back in the van and scarper. All a bit Benny Hill. It wouldn't be so bad but the depot keeps really unhelpful hours, something like 7am to 1pm on weekdays- seems like most times when people aren't in for a delivery, it's because they're at work, so having a decent out of hours service would be a bit obvious, but no.

On the other hand, our old postie used to be of the mad "Hide the parcel somewhere" variety- I claimed for an item as undelivered once and got my refund, then months later found it hidden in the open foundations of the shed. Another time, he decided that a good place to hide a parcel when we were on holiday was in the bin- £1000 worth of amplifier went to the tip!

(all pales into insignificance beside the old fishmonger, who discovering that my neighbour was out put a delivery of fish through OUR front door, when we were on holiday for 3 weeks)
