Sale prices do not apply to cyclescheme bikes.

If you get a £1000 voucher you have to spend it all on a bike + cycling accessories. You cannot get a refund.

I have to say though that the scheme is excellent - I got my own bike on C2W this year and the discount is incredible even considering that the bikes always start out at rrp.

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

depends on the company selling the bike. some will quite happily sell a sale bike.

Who sets the final payment to the employer at the end of the year (if there is one)? Me and a few others are trying to get our employer to enter this scheme but are worried that we'll get done over by them at the end.

Employer sets the final payment. In my company last year it was a standard £20 for all bikes regardless of purchase price. I hear some companies have a policy of just charging an extra months payment as this takes into account the different purchase price of the bikes.

Our C2W scheme charges 5% of the market value of the bike at the end of the scheme.

Out of interest, how do they determine the market value of the bike after 12 months?

I think the c2w schemes are supurb. Yes you can get a old model for less than a new model but why? If you are in the market for a new bike and you have the option of a c2w scheme then go for it. At my work we still have to go and get a quote for a bike and then submit it to HR so if we want a £250 bike you get just that.

Final payments are vague due to lease laws but rule of thumb as alot of people said tends to be a fixed fee £5-50 or 1 extra payment. i have not heard of anyone being ripped off.

End result 1 new bike bought for around 55% of real cost, the more you spend the greater amount you save but the % stays the same.

IIRC they ask the LBS that they're sourced from for a rough market value based on condition etc and work it out from there!!

just popped into my local halfords and there range of bikes in store was abismle

carerra/apollo a couple of hardtail gts and a couple of hardtail konas.
im a bit worried that i`l get the £1000 voucher and then wont be able to get any bike i actually want. i know you can order in just about any bike but this is due to stock availability so no guarantee you will be able to get anything you want

Some companies may have their own credit license which exceeds £1000. It's worth asking your HR dept to clarify as if it's higher, why not make the most of it

The Halfords scheme will not allow you to go over £1000. You can get a farily decent selection of bikes from Halfords directly, rather than what they have in store - there is usually a helpline to ring and they will assist. Some brands are not available, but last year cannondale, specialized, giant etc were.

Also take a look at the Boardman (either HT Team or FS Pro) - both excellent bikes and available in (some) stores.

Halfords C2W can source most bikes on the market. Give them a call - 08700 660511.

i think the problem is though that they dont source alot of other brand direct from supplier so the quantites they can get are limited

i dont really want to agree to a £1000 voucher then find i cant get any of the bikes i want locally, none of my 5 local halfords stock the boardman bike so i cant even take a look at those and try before i buy. once you have your voucher you cant redeem it so i would have to get a bike once i signed up
