Why no where to put a bottle cage?

I just want to go for a quick ride after work and travel light...

(note that I did still enjoy my ride)

lots of mountain bikes don't have bottle cage mounts. I always guessed it was because the suspension frames don't offer anywhere sensible to put them, but on hardtails, it's kinda odd.
There's bottle-bosses on my marin, but they're directly in front of your crotch, and the thought of catching my gonads in it put the fear of god into me, so I never used them, and got a camelback instead.

I have a zesty too and it means I cant use my old home made light setup which had the batteries in a water bottle but its not the end of the world as its a perfect excuse to buy a new led one heh. It almost looks like you could put one in front of the bottom bracket as there is a hole there if you then took off the fancy cable guide clamp but im sure the spacing is wrong. Lots of bike have mounts down there, marin, whytes, specialized etc but I would never want to put a bottle there due to the mud and awkardness, better off just wearing a camelbak

Why not invest in a hydration pack, £5 in tescos, or Go Outdoors have a sale on Cammelbacks?

Or I have also seen North Face Belts, which have a bottle holder attached and a free bottle?

Just a couple of other options? Not sure if they help you at all?
If you see it, ride it, if you don't, you have already fallen off!

WSSurfbum, you need to 'sit down' and look at the spelling of your sig line. It's riches.
