  • I really love the look of that Ramones Hardtail.

What kind of riding is it designed for?

Think they`ve built more as a trail bike than a downhill/ freeride bike looking toward the long travel hardtail market.

Still no probs with my '08 :) Infact we're staying in Innerleithen (which is also 5 mins down the road from Glentress) this very week and having a look around a few Scottish trail centers, did the same last year. The bike has been 100% reliable, I've worn down a fox shock bushing and knackered the stock wheels in the year of heavy use I've had it, the frame is perfect though.

Come next year production is from a new factory apparently, in the unlikely event my bike breaks in the next year I get a new frame anyway. The warranties are very easy, even people who blatently use them for downhill get claims through.

Very tempted by one of the new swingarms with a maxle dropout at the back. The prices have always been vague, Merlin and Realcycles have always done massive reductions. Top bikes, I'd buy another in a heartbeat!
  • Can I just say that they are bang out of order for naming a damn lovely mountain bike after my favorite, most influential band ever! They've mixed my 2 favorite things...

...How the hell can I live without one!

LOL another factory wrs Sonic and his Merida Mecka carpet
    May make it stronger LOL

Sounds a right Cracker to me

Commencal can never get there crap into gear
Even the Mags had to tell Them they was NOT
    the correct angles has stated.

What an investment suppose you get a Free Angora Jumper and hat
with it for the Long walk back after your frames Hucked

Sounds more like a If But Where And When bike

Have you ever owned a Meta?
Have you even ridden a Meta?

    I take it not.

You've formed your opinion by reading a few magazine articles and reading a few forum posts.

Admittedley a few of the 09 frames have developed cracks, I have linked to the thread on the Commie OC in the past and told people to make their own minds up. Still waiting for your link to the "Meta cracked on 2ft drop off" thread.

Mines been perfect so far so it's hard not to recommend them when the prices have been cut so heavily this year.

    This one?

The op admits his riding is now more downhill/ freeride biased. Reading on he liked the bike but felt he needed something stronger for his riding style. He'd also broken two specialized bikes.

IMO it's just yet another thread which makes you look like a complete tool.

Grantway, man you are obsessed with the Meta more so than Meta owners.

Just looking through this thread and the one pdid just posted a link to, you can't leave them alone. I reckon really a Meta wannabe but ended up spunking all your cash an Orange.

I wouldn't take any notice, he's always trolling the Meta threads. Jealousy maybe?

I love that Grantways is using that thread as an example of bad Commie 5.5's - the guy loved the bike but cracked it - he wasn't even complaining about the crack. He was jsut looking for a tougher bike.

A 5.5 weighs under 30Ibs and comes with QR forks - not the typ-ical build of a bike designed for drops. Cut it some slack. The guy also said he regulalrly did 2-5ft drops and the frame cracked off one drop - its a history of abuse rather than the first time he hit a drop.

Orange 5 is a good bike and definitely an all mountain ride but I have seen them cracked and broken from a series of bad landings, I've seen a guy walking of the Chevanne DH course with a snapped in two Intense M1 which is a downhillers DH bike - all frames can snap under the wrong treatment.

start an orange thread, i dare you!!

I had this idea for a really troll like thread asking whether or not everyone thought WMB were now biased to Orange like MBR supposedly are because they gave the Five 9/10 even though it cost nearly £2k and has Recons... or whether people would finally admit that the Five is only worshipped by the mags because it really is that good...

But I thought better of it... :D *

    * (mainly because I figured someone would point out the VERY bizarre selection of bikes they picked to test it alongside in some weird adventure bike test but that still doesn't detract from what they said about the Five so :-P)
