Are v brake bosses universal? ive got a dirt jump frame that im building back up but i used to run discs on it so i removed the brake bosses and cant find them. i tried putting the ones from my forks on it but they were to thin (the thread). So im presuming frame bosses have a thicker thread than forks bosses, but can i just buy some bosses for any frame and stick them on or are they frame specific?

rear bosses can be standard but then it does depend on the frame maker.

    take it to your LBS.

I've just tried replacing the forks on my mums bike - Vbrakes - and I've ran into problems! Not only does the depth of the boss which screws into the forks matter, but the depth of the bolt that holds the vbrake in place... Gutted a quick swap over has turned into a shop build. I have no idea what bosses are needed as the ones originally fitted don't fit the replacement Judys, neither do the ones that I have left over with the Vs.

forks can be even more difficult. EG Marz use at least 4 different bolts.
