Should I expect money back on ripped shorts?

Ok, I got carried away and splashed the cash on some very nice Fox Attack shorts:

First ride out I have a less than perfect but not that bad landing, saddle nose whacks arse and tears a massive hole in the seam/fabric. The fabric is mega thin and obviously not very rip resistant. Far cheaper general purpose shorts would not rip in this situation. Am I expecting to much from an £85 pair of cycle specific shorts?

According to the website you just provided they will cover 'wear and tear' but I am not sure if you qualify for that however it is a bit appaling. You might as well phone up or contact their customer service department and see if they will do anything. You could always say that you believe it was a defect with the stitching etc.

You must have been able to see that the fabric was very thin before before you wore them. You probably should have sent them straight back.
Unless they've tore along the seam then I dont think you've got much chance of getting them changed.
Even if they did agree to swap them they would only swap them for anoher pair, which judging from what you say wil just rip again.
Your probably better off with downhill shorts. I usually wear Fox Strafer (similar to the new Blitz) shorts with a padded short underneath. They're very tuff but have lots of mesh venting around the crotch and are suprisingly cool.0
